Girls on the Run of Lancaster is a chapter of Girls on the Run International ®, founded in 1996, by Molly Barker. The Lancaster Chapter began in the fall of 2009 and has continued to grow each year. We are blessed to have a vibrant, outgoing team of leaders, advisors and coaches. Everyone involved in the organization is passionate about helping girls grow into strong, healthy and self-confident young women.
The Lancaster Community has truly embraced and welcomed the program. Thanks to our volunteers and sponsors we have been able to keep up with our significant growth and we do our best to keep up with the needs of the girls here in Lancaster.
Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential learning programs for girls age eight to thirteen years old. The programs combine training for a 3.1 mile running event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts. The goals of the programs are to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and physical development
“Girls on the Run was a lot of fun for me. It helped me be a better person, better runner, and that I’m great just the way I am. Also running the 5K made me feel good because I liked running for the Arthritis Foundation.”
