Coaching Opportunities

Girls on the Run-Lancaster is now inviting those interested in coaching opportunities to contact us.  GOTR will provide all necessary training, background checks and coaching materials. Check it out!  You do not have to be a runner to be a coach!  Please complete our Volunteer Application and we will be in touch with you!

Requirements for The Head/Co-Coach:

  • Become CPR/First Aid certified
  • Complete a background check (PA background clearances FBI Fingerprint for anyone who has not lived in PA for the past 10 consecutive years: cost is $21.00 as well as the Criminal History and Child Abuse, which are free for volunteers working with children.  )
  • Attend full day Coaches’ Training
  • Prepare, supervise, and facilitate (along with assistant coaches) 20 – 1 hour and 30 minute long lessons in a manner consistent with the GOTR philosophy and curricula
  • Plan and coordinate (along with assistant coaches) the end of season celebration

Requirements for The Assistant Coach (or coaches):

  • Complete a background check (see above in the head coach requirements)
  • Attend full day Coaches’ Training
  • Attend each lesson or co-coach with another assistant coach, keeping a consistent schedule.
  • Along with head and assistant coaches, assist the girls by offering encouragement and participating in games and workouts.
  • All coaches are encouraged to help facilitate the lesson at each practice.  GOTR is a team effort, not lead by the head coach alone.

All Coaches: If you are an approved coach for the fall 2016 season, you will need to register for a coach training.  The link will be posted soon.  There will be 3 different options to choose from, please select one to attend.  Find our season dates for coaches here.
